How is your company working towards a more sustainable future?

The pursuit of great flavor demands a commitment to great ecology—that’s our company’s guiding principle. And we’ve come to realize that one cup of coffee really can make the world healthier. In our quest for the best coffee, we found ourselves becoming not just coffee producers, but also forest protectors, wildlife stewards, and soil scientists.

How are you growing coffee in a sustainable way?

On our farms, the delicate microclimates where our coffee thrives have become our window into the immediate effects of human-induced stressors. These sensitive environments allow us to see firsthand how changes in the climate impact not only our crops but the entire ecosystem around them.

To grow exceptional coffee, we realized we needed to do more than just cultivate crops. We had to safeguard the forests surrounding our farms, ensuring that local wildlife could thrive undisturbed. Water conservation became a priority, and we’ve implemented systems to rely solely on natural resources like rainwater collection and natural ponds to sustain our crops.

We’ve also committed to planting native trees to improve soil fertility and attract natural predators to control pests without introducing chemicals. Our reforestation efforts with endemic trees have created natural corridors for wildlife and contributed to carbon sequestration. We’ve become experts in soil health, using organic fertilizers made from coffee pulp and other natural by-products, ensuring our soil remains fertile and resilient for generations to come!

How are you sharing your pursuit for sustainability with others?

Our commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop at the farm. We’ve taken what we’ve learned and brought it to our customers—we host classes to share our knowledge on sustainable farming, brewing, and roasting, helping to build a community that values this relationship between quality and sustainability. Our goal is to empower consumers to make choices that are better for the planet, and for their own health.

Even down to our packaging, we’ve chosen to stay true to our values. We use compostable materials, making sure that every bag of coffee aligns with our zero-waste approach. Sustainability for us is a continuous commitment.
