A new restaurant in Sherman Oaks, Jawny’s, has opened its doors with a fresh take on casual dining, bringing together bold flavors, halal-friendly menu offerings, locally sourced ingredients, and a commitment to more sustainable restaurant practices.

At the heart of the restaurant’s vision is a simple idea: great food should taste good, bring people together, and reflect a thoughtful approach to the environment.

Known for its signature Philly cheesesteaks, Jawny’s is putting quality and sourcing at the forefront of its menu. The restaurant’s cheesesteaks are made with halal meat sourced from local farmers in California, offering guests a flavorful dining experience rooted in ingredient quality and regional sourcing.

By prioritizing local suppliers, Jawny’s aims to support California’s farming community while building closer connections between the food it serves and the people who produce it.

The introduction of a halal menu also reflects Jawny’s commitment to making its food accessible to a wider range of diners. Whether guests are stopping in for a classic cheesesteak or discovering the restaurant for the first time, Jawny’s aims to create a welcoming environment where people can enjoy satisfying food with greater confidence in how key ingredients are sourced.

“Our goal at Jawny’s is to serve food people love while being more mindful about the choices we make as a restaurant,” said a representative of Jawny’s. “From our halal cheesesteaks and relationships with local California farmers to the way we approach everyday dining, we want to create an experience that brings great taste and thoughtful practices together.”

Beyond its menu, Jawny’s is embracing practical ways to reduce waste and limit unnecessary materials in its day-to-day operations. The restaurant has moved away from traditional paper menus, instead encouraging guests to explore the menu digitally. Online ordering provides another convenient way for customers to discover the menu and place their orders, helping streamline the dining experience while supporting a more digital-first approach.

Jawny’s is also eliminating plastic cutlery as part of its effort to reduce reliance on disposable plastics. By reconsidering everyday restaurant essentials, the business is working to make sustainability part of the customer experience rather than an afterthought. These steps reflect a broader philosophy that small, consistent operational choices can contribute to a more responsible approach to hospitality.

The restaurant’s welcoming atmosphere extends to four-legged companions, too. Dogs are welcome in designated or suitable seating areas where permitted, allowing guests to enjoy their visit alongside their canine companions. This pet-friendly approach reinforces Jawny’s goal of creating a relaxed, inclusive space for the community.

As Jawny’s opens its doors, the restaurant is inviting customers to experience a combination of bold comfort food, halal menu options, local sourcing, and environmentally conscious practices. By bringing these elements together, Jawny’s hopes to establish itself as a destination for diners who value both what is on their plate and the choices behind it.

From California-sourced halal meat to digital menus and reduced plastic use, Jawny’s is building its identity around flavor, community, and a more considered approach to dining.
